Authorities reported they were alerted by a man who discovered a car in Hanau marked with red-colored liquid

Roughly fifty vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a release.

Officers report they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.

The fluid had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.

Law enforcement then discovered many other marked automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement state preliminary tests show the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; authorities are presently not aware of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they stated.

City officials announced they were attempting "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the community for details.

A high-ranking representative said the attack rendered him speechless and had to be resolved quickly.

"This incident hits the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing attack five years ago," he wrote on a platform, recalling the killing of nine people by a shooter aiming at people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
